The 8th Mediterranean Meeting on Nuclear Medicine and Radiopharmaceuticals devoted to "Radionuclides for Oncology" will be held in Rome and Istanbul. This is the eighth of a series of annual seminar-like Meetings, organized by committed university scientists working in this field, independently of the numerous national societies. Original research work and reviews focusing on the recent in vitro and in vivo new technologies, radiopharmaceuticals and radiobiomarkers used for the diagnosis and treatment of malignant lesions will be presented. Special emphasis will be given to: (a) correlative evaluation of the efficacy of the radiotracers in relation to other diagnostic and therapeutic modalities, (b) the earliest possible detection of primary and secondary sites and most accurate possible staging, (c) the monitoring of the efficacy of chemo-, radio- and radionuclidic therapy and (d) the assessment and management of unfortunate treatment due to multidrug resistance.
The Meeting is scheduled as follows: May 19 (arrival day) to 20 in Rome, and May 21 to 24 in Istanbul, where participants will be transferred by plane, Thursday 21.
Accommodation: The Raphael Hotel de Luxe in Rome and the Suisse Hotel de Luxe in Istanbul will officially host the Meeting delegates.
Scientific Program: The scientific program will comprise plenary lectures by invited world authorities and oral (8-10 min) presentations. Five minutes will be allowed for the discussion of each presentation. Only slides measuring 5 x 5 cm will be accepted for projection.
Publication of Symposium Papers: Two categories of full manuscripts can be applied, depending on their content. Review Work which will be published in a MULTI-AUTHOR VOLUME, entitled Radionuclides for Oncology and/or Original Work including experimental details which will be published in a special issue of HYBRIDOMA. All submitted contributions will be subject to review. Multi-author volume and HYBRIDOMA issue along with the conference documentation will be distributed to the registered participants, just before the beginning of the Meeting. HYBRIDOMA issue will circulate at the end of August.
Instructions to the Authors: Will be sent by express-mail upon demand. Authors wishing to submit diskettes are most welcome; they are requested to store their text on diskettes formatted for MS-DOS (ASCII) in a .txt format and do not forget to enclose a printout of the final text.
Language: The official language of the Meeting will be English.
Social Program: (a) Get-together dinner on Tuesday, May 19, (b) Accompanying persons' program on Wednesday, May 20, (c) Guided sightseeing of Istanbul on Thursday, May 21 and (d) Half-day cruise to the Prince Islands on Saturday, May 23.
Application for Participation: The strict attendance of the scientific sessions is free. Participation fee is US $1300 for active participants and US $ 900 for accompanying persons and includes: attendance of the scientific sessions, leathern conference folder - documentation, multiauthor volume, HYBRIDOMA special issue, accommodation in the Raphael Hotel, in Rome and Suisse Hotel, in Istanbul, all breakfasts, coffee breaks, meals, participation in all social events, sightseeing, cruise, airfare Rome-Istanbul-Rome.
